The delegation, led by Ms. Saira Iftikhar, presented the company’s plans for Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) in Pakistan’s agriculture sector, focusing on improving milk production, livestock genetics, and farmer empowerment through capacity-building programs.

Friesland Campina Engro introduced a pilot project titled “Islamabad Safe Milk City,” aimed at tackling milk adulteration, improving quality, and advancing public health through sustainable practices and technical assistance.

Minister Hussain underscored the significant potential for FDI in Pakistan’s dairy sector, highlighting opportunities to localize the production of infant formula and powdered milk, reducing the country’s reliance on imports. He emphasized the importance of public-private partnerships in driving self-sufficiency, conserving foreign exchange, and fostering industry growth.

Friesland Campina Engro, a subsidiary of the Netherlands-based Friesland Campina cooperative, has invested millions of dollars in Pakistan since 2016. The company operates a large-scale dairy farm in Sukkur, Sindh, and aims to introduce advanced technologies and international best practices to strengthen Pakistan’s dairy ecosystem.

The delegation shared insights into their ongoing efforts to modernize the dairy sector and enhance productivity. Minister Hussain assured full government support for Friesland Campina’s initiatives, stressing the importance of ensuring equitable benefits for all stakeholders in the supply chain.

The meeting highlights growing opportunities for FDI in Pakistan’s agriculture sector as the country seeks to modernize its dairy industry and achieve greater self-reliance.
