Mother Dairy announces significant investments to expand fruit and vegetable processing capabilities with new plants in Gujarat and Andhra Pradesh.

Mother Dairy, a major player in Delhi-NCR's milk market, is setting its sights on expansion by investing Rs 600 crore in establishing two fruit and vegetable processing plants in India. The company plans to invest Rs 400 crore in a plant located at Itola near Baroda, Gujarat, expected to be completed within the next two years.
Mother Dairy Managing Director Manish Bandlish confirmed, "The board has already approved. The process for establishing the Itola plant will begin and will be completed in the next two years." In addition, a second facility in Kuppam, Andhra Pradesh, will require an investment of Rs 150-200 crore. Bandlish added that the land acquisition process from the government is yet to be completed, which has delayed the project's start.
Currently, Mother Dairy operates three processing plants under its Safal brand, located in Ranchi, Bengaluru, and Mangolpuri, processing a total of two lakh tonnes annually. Also underway is the construction of a new plant in Nagpur dedicated to milk and dairy products, representing an investment of over Rs 500 crore, with operations expected by 2026. On the product development front,
Mother Dairy has introduced an idli-dosa batter to the Delhi-NCR market, which has seen promising initial sales at Safal booths. Evaluation for a broader rollout, potentially involving a further Rs 5-10 crore investment, is scheduled for April. Mother Dairy, a subsidiary of the National Dairy Development Board, anticipates reaching a turnover nearing Rs 17,500 crore in the 2024-25 fiscal year, reflecting a growth of 15-16% over the previous year's Rs 15,000 crore.
