Mills Milk Expands Across Scotland with Strategic Acquisitions

Mills Milk, headquartered in Ayrshire, Scotland, has experienced substantial growth, reporting an increase in turnover from £5.1 million in 2020 to £24 million in 2025. The company now serves approximately 35,000 households and 3,500 businesses across Scotland. It operates from five depots located in Ayrshire, Edinburgh, Shotts, Inverness, and Argyll.

The company, led by siblings Adam and Abbey Mills, has expanded through strategic acquisitions since 2021, consolidating smaller family-run dairies in Glasgow, Edinburgh, Inverness, and the Central Belt. This acquisition-led approach has supported the company's growth, particularly during the COVID-19 pandemic, as demand for home delivery surged. Mills Milk continues to experience growth post-pandemic, bolstered by new hospitality contracts.

In 2024, Mills Milk acquired a small wholesaler in Lochgilphead, which expanded its service capability to hospitality businesses in Argyllshire and island communities, including Islay and Mull. The company also relocated its Inverness depot to larger premises and announced plans for a new purpose-built depot in Edinburgh, valued at approximately £500,000.

The firm is planning its next phase of investment, aiming for a revenue projection of £30 million by the end of 2026 and the creation of 30 new jobs. The company has expanded its fleet to 120 vehicles, supported by a new garage facility at its Ayrshire headquarters.

Adam Mills stated, "We’ve moved from being a growing regional operator to building a national footprint. The focus now is on scaling responsibly, investing in depots, fleet and systems to support long-term growth." Mills Milk also launched its own Mills Artisan range, moving into higher-margin branded production with products like small-batch sourdough, artisan cheese, and butter.
