Millbrook Dairy’s “Tuk-Tuk Challenge” Raises Over £25,000 for BBC Children in Need

Founders David Evans and Kevin Beer Embark on a Unique Journey to Support Charitable Initiatives
Millbrook Dairy Company, established in 2019 by industry veterans David Evans and Kevin Beer, has raised more than £25,000 for BBC Children in Need through its inventive “Tuk-Tuk Challenge.” The journey saw the co-founders travel fr om the company’s headquarters in Bideford, Devon, to the Orkney Islands in Scotland, covering over 1,600 miles in a brightly decorated tuk-tuk topped with a giant cheese wedge.
During the nine-day trek, the pair made 29 stops, visiting some of the UK’s most renowned cheese producers in England, Wales, and Scotland. Beginning at Parkham Farms in Devon and concluding at Kirkwall Creamery in the Orkney Islands, Evans and Beer sampled and graded cheeses fr om esteemed producers, spotlighting the rich variety of British cheese craftsmanship.
The journey also included a stop at the Persie Distillery, wh ere Millbrook Dairy’s own 1057 Gin is crafted, as well as Balmoral Castle, wh ere the duo delivered a special batch of 1057 extra mature Scottish cheddar in hopes of reaching the King and Queen.
Kevin Beer, co-founder and director at Millbrook Dairy Company, shared his enthusiasm for the journey: “It’s our fifth anniversary this year, and we wanted to do something unique that allows us to give back to society—thus, the Tuk-Tuk Challenge was born! Not only have we raised a significant sum for BBC Children in Need, but we’ve also enjoyed sampling outstanding cheeses from some of the UK’s finest producers. This adventure has made us appreciate the comfort of our everyday vehicles even more!”
Reflecting on the success of the journey, David Evans, co-founder and director, added: “This has been an incredible adventure, and we’re thrilled to have raised over £25,000 for such a worthwhile cause. BBC Children in Need supports thousands of projects across the UK, and we’re grateful to our families, friends, suppliers, and customers who have contributed to our fundraising efforts. We hope to keep raising funds right up until Children in Need night in November.”
As Millbrook Dairy celebrates its milestone anniversary, Evans and Beer hint at future travels, potentially expanding their charitable excursions across France, Italy, or even the United States, bringing their passion for cheese and community service to new horizons.
