The milk pasteurization plant in Campeche is set to open in November despite challenges posed by the screwworm pest affecting cattle.

The milk pasteurization plant in Campeche will be inaugurated in November by President Claudia Sheinbaum, despite the screwworm outbreak affecting livestock.
According to Liconsa's state manager, Abid Francisco Moo Cruz, the plant's construction is proceeding as planned and the milk price remains steady at 11.50 pesos per liter. The plant, which involves an investment of nearly 140 million pesos, is part of the "Milk Self-Sufficiency Plan" for Campeche and Mexico. It aims to produce 100,000 liters of milk daily to supply Campeche and neighboring states like Yucatán and Quintana Roo.
Moo Cruz emphasized that screwworm cases do not impact milk quality but advised farmers to be vigilant and report infestations, as treatments are available.
