Mengniu and AHS Recycle Launch Campaign to Transform Dairy Packaging into Sustainable Solutions

China Mengniu Dairy Company Limited, in partnership with AHS Recycle, has launched the "Dairy Packaging Reduction and Regeneration Campaign" to foster a sustainable and regenerative ecosystem for dairy packaging.
Announced on Earth Day at a Shanghai event, this initiative marks a significant collaboration between Mengniu and AHS Recycle’s parent company, ATRenew Inc.
The campaign, spearheaded by Mengniu's ice cream brand Mood for Green, promotes the reduction, reuse, and recycling of dairy packaging as part of an eco-conscious movement. Inspired by Mood for Green's philosophy of "one bite of nature," the campaign encourages consumers to participate in recycling efforts through a points redemption system. This system rewards participants with points for recycling packaging, which can be exchanged for Mood for Green ice cream products.
A major feature of the campaign is its creation of a closed-loop ecosystem that repurposes recycled dairy packaging into household items. These items are then donated to children in rural communities across China, aiding families affected by urban migration. To date, the initiative has reached over 200 rural communities and impacted an estimated 7 million people.
This pioneering project sets a new standard for sustainable practices within the dairy industry by integrating innovative recycling strategies with social responsibility. Looking ahead, Mengniu and AHS Recycle aim to expand their efforts to develop sustainable supply chains, enhance industry-wide recycling practices, and collaborate with various stakeholders to further promote environmental sustainability.
