Madhya Pradesh to Boost Milk Production with New Agreement

In a significant move for the state's dairy industry, the Madhya Pradesh State Co-operative Dairy Federation Limited, along with associated milk unions, is set to sign a collaboration agreement with the National Dairy Development Board (NDDB) on February 25. This agreement will be executed at the Kushabhau Thackeray International Convention Center in Bhopal, with Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah and Chief Minister Mohan Yadav presiding over the event.
Chief Minister Mohan Yadav announced that this collaborative effort marks a pivotal step towards enhancing milk producers' income and boosting milk production in the region. Approved by the state Cabinet, the partnership, effective for five years with a scope for extension, includes establishing collection centers in every Gram Panchayat and expanding the processing capacity of milk unions.
CM Yadav emphasized that the state's Sankalp Patra-2023 outlines commitments to create dairy cooperative societies and collection centers across every Gram Panchayat. The plan involves a substantial investment of Rs 2,500 crore as part of the White Revolution Mission, aimed at achieving fair pricing and efficient milk procurement for dairy farmers.
This initiative also aims to increase milk committees from 6,000 to 9,000, covering approximately 18,000 villages, thus doubling daily milk collection from 10.50 lakh kg to 20 lakh kg. The NDDB's involvement will expand Milk Producer Organizations' coverage from 1,390 to 2,590 villages, with milk procurement rising from 1.3 lakh kg to 3.7 lakh kg per day.
Furthermore, the state's dairy plant capacity, currently at 18 lakh liters per day, is projected to reach 30 lakh liters daily. Over the next five years, an estimated Rs 1,500 crore will be invested, doubling the annual income of milk producers from Rs 1,700 crore to Rs 3,500 crore.
The NDDB will play a crucial role in enhancing the Sanchi brand's strength and national presence, without altering the brand name or charging management fees. Additionally, a complaint redressal system will be implemented to address grievances from dairy farmers associated with milk cooperative societies.
