Chinese scientists clone Tibetan cows for the first time

It is noted that the cloning of two species of cows living on the Tibetan Plateau was carried out using somatic cell nuclear transfer.
According to Yu Dawei, a researcher at the Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Research Institute of the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences, scientists collected ear tissue from two types of Tibetan cows, and then created a fibroblast line in the laboratory, after which they obtained clone embryos using somatic cell nuclear transfer technology.
"The cloned embryos were transplanted into surrogate cows and after full gestation we obtained eight cloned cows," Yu Dawei said. He also noted that in the future, scientists will combine cloning technologies with traditional livestock breeding technologies to create a perfect genetic system and an improved system for protecting and using resources.
