Kazakhstan and China Open a Modern Veterinary Laboratory in East Kazakhstan Region

The opening ceremony was attended by the Minister of Agriculture Aidarbek Saparov, the akim of the East Kazakhstan region Nurymbet Saktaganov, and the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of China to Kazakhstan Han Chunlin.
"The opening of the laboratory is the result of the strategic partnership between Kazakhstan and China, aimed at the development of science and technology, and enhancing the competitiveness of domestic products. I am confident that the new center will play a key role in ensuring the quality and safety of agricultural products," noted Aidarbek Saparov.
Under the agreement, the Chinese government handed over 99 units of modern laboratory equipment and furniture worth a total of 840 million tenge to the regional akimat.The laboratory is accredited according to international standards ISO 17025, which allows for high-precision research in the field of veterinary diagnostics and food safety.
This decision opens Kazakhstan to broader export opportunities, allowing the elimination of technical barriers when supplying products to the Chinese market and other countries.
The facility is located at the branch of the Republican Veterinary Laboratory of the Veterinary Control and Supervision Committee of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
Major repairs, modernization of engineering networks, and landscaping of the territory were carried out.
Chinese specialists participated in the installation and setup of the equipment and conducted training for Kazakhstani staff.
The new laboratory will be able to conduct up to 550,000 studies on particularly dangerous infections and up to 4,000 analyses of food safety indicators annually.
As part of the opening, 22 units of service and specialized equipment were also handed over to the regional branches of the Republican Veterinary Laboratory and veterinary stations in the East Kazakhstan region.
The project became part of a comprehensive program for modernizing Kazakhstan's veterinary service, aimed at improving biosafety, enhancing animal health control, and improving the quality of agricultural products, noted the department.
