Kazakhstan has managed to slightly increase the volume of livestock product exports, as indicated by data from the Bureau of National Statistics covering the period from January to August over the past three years.

However, further expansion of exports is limited by internal and external factors, such as quotas on the export of certain products and restrictions imposed by neighboring countries due to Kazakhstan's epizootic situation. Experts view the export prospects with cautious optimism, reports APK News.

The largest share of Kazakhstan’s livestock product exports goes to Uzbekistan. Specifically, out of 11,536.8 tons of chilled beef exported this year, 11,246.0 tons were shipped to Uzbekistan. Stable shipments are also made to the UAE, Iran, and Georgia. As of 2024, Kazakhstan exported 49.4 tons of frozen beef valued at $422,800.

The mutton and goat meat segment has also shown growth. In the first eight months of 2024, exports reached 8,462.6 tons, worth $30.3 million, which is significantly higher than similar figures for 2022 and 2023. In addition to Uzbekistan, promising markets for Kazakh mutton include the UAE, Kuwait, Iran, Qatar, and Saudi Arabia.

A notable increase was seen in poultry meat exports, rising from 49.6 tons in 2022 to 1,495.1 tons in 2024. The main buyers continue to be countries in Central Asia and the Middle East.

Nevertheless, despite these positive trends, unresolved issues persist within Kazakhstan’s livestock industry, particularly in areas such as veterinary services, feed production, and financing. These factors continue to impact the sector's sustainable development and potential for further export growth.
