Over the past 10 years, Kazakhstan has imported 187,000 head of breeding cattle. The peak year was 2019, with 45,000 head brought in under the national beef cattle development program.

Top Suppliers (2013–2023):

  • Russia – the leading supplier, with nearly 40,000 head

  • Australia – 30,500 head

  • United States – 30,316 head

If all European Union countries are considered collectively, the EU’s total contribution to Kazakhstan’s imports reached 68,800 head of breeding cattle.

 In 2023, Kazakhstan imported 11,411 head.

  • Russia was the largest supplier, accounting for 30% of that volume.
