Fonterra Co-operative Group Limited has set a record opening forecast milk price for organic milk for the current season, reflecting robust market demand and a balanced supply outlook. Starting June 1, the new season's price range is set between $9.25 and $10.75 per kilogram of milk solids (kgMS), with a midpoint of $10/kgMS.
The announcement comes alongside the disclosure of a record final organic milk price of $10.80/kgMS for the recently concluded season, underscoring the co-op’s strong sales performance and optimistic market conditions.
In response to the increasing demand for organic products, Fonterra is actively seeking to expand its network of organic milk suppliers. The co-op’s representatives will be available at the Fonterra tent at Fieldays this week to engage with farmers and provide more information on the benefits and requirements of supplying organic milk.
Fonterra has also updated its advance rate for organic milk suppliers for the season, starting with an advance rate of $7.50/kgMS for the first seven months. The rate will increase by 15 cents for milk supplied starting in January of the following year.
