Scientific studies highlight the health benefits of milk, as El Cesar emerges as a leader in high-quality dairy production in the Caribbean region.

The department of El Cesar stands out not only as a leading cattle producer in Colombia but also for its top-tier milk production in the Caribbean region.
According to data from the Colombian Agricultural Institute (ICA), the region houses over 1.6 million head of cattle, making up 5.7% of the national herd. It produces more than one million liters of raw milk daily, totaling approximately 365 million liters annually, which accounts for 5% of the country's total milk production.
Beyond the volume, El Cesar's milk is distinguished by its quality. In 2022, El Cesar ranked second nationally in total solids, recording 12.75 grams per 100 grams of milk, surpassing the national average of 12.09 g/100g.
Moreover, it led in butterfat content with 3.98%, above the national average of 3.68%.
A recent study from Oxford University, published in Nature Communications, evaluated over 500,000 individuals in the UK and determined that daily milk consumption could lower the risk of colorectal cancer by 17%.
Governor Elvia Milena Sanjuan Dávila emphasized the nutritional richness of Cesar's milk, noting its high calcium and protein content, now recognized as a functional food by science.
Despite climatic challenges, the region has maintained productivity and moved towards a more sophisticated, sustainable production with institutional support and technological advancements.
Governor Dávila invites Colombians to support local dairy products, noting their dual economic and health benefits, reinforcing El Cesar as a national model in efficient and sustainable dairy production.
