Mauro Parada Muñoz, Secretary of Rural Development, highlighted the challenges confronting the dairy industry in the state of Chihuahua.

The prolonged drought and increased costs of forage have led to reduced milk production and, in many cases, forced local farmers to cease operations altogether. Parada emphasized the need for technical support to help farmers improve production and profitability.

By enhancing the quality of cattle feed, producers could increase output and make operations more sustainable.

Moreover, Parada underscored the importance of providing subsidies and support to mitigate the current difficulties. He advocated for connecting farmers with national and international companies like Lala, Alpura, and Algodres to bolster the dairy sector and expand market opportunities.

"Unfortunately, we have slightly fewer than a thousand small dairy producers operating under these challenging forage cost conditions, having to graze their cows in these forage areas.

The drought has severely complicated their production methods," Parada noted.
