The Digital Dairy Chain has awarded nearly £10,000 to the Golden Hooves initiative, led by the farmer-owned dairy cooperative, First Milk. Funded by UK Research and Innovation, this project seeks to bridge the growing disconnect between children and their understanding of how food and drinks make their way from farm to table.
The initiative focuses on developing innovative educational experiences to engage children and families with the world of dairy and regenerative farming. The program aims to teach young audiences about biodiversity, soil health, and the daily life on a working farm through interactive and memorable learning experiences.
Working in collaboration with STEM leaders, educators, and technology companies, the project will create a variety of educational resources that can be used in classrooms, at home, or directly on farms. This effort is aligned with First Milk’s goal of bringing over 1,000 children to farms in the coming years and deepening public understanding of the cooperative’s mission and objectives.
The University of Strathclyde is leading the project, which was initiated with support from an innovation voucher applied for by First Milk through the Digital Dairy Chain’s innovation broker team.
