In August, DeLaval launched DeLaval OptiDuo robotic feed pushers on two farms in Kazakhstan. Five robots began operating at the Borte Milka dairy farm, and two robots at Tauelsyzdyk, according to Dairynews.today, citing the company's press release.
OptiDuo™ robots allow for feed to be mixed while it is being moved on the feeding table. The unique action of the rotating auger ensures gentle movement of the feed closer to the animals on the feeding table, making the feed much more attractive to the cows, the company noted.
The re-mixed feed reduces the possibility of cows sorting through it, as it is no longer the same leftovers that the cows had previously discarded and that were simply pushed back towards them. This means that, in addition to reducing competition and pressure on lower-ranking cows at the feeding table, the overall volume of feed waste decreases, and the time required for removing leftovers is also saved.
The OptiDuo™ robot automatically starts and returns to the charging station, and its sensitive sensors ensure that the robot automatically stops if its movement is obstructed by a person, animal, or object.
