Clean Energy Fuels Corp. (Nasdaq: CLNE), a leading provider of environmentally friendly fuel solutions for the transportation sector, has teamed up with Maas Energy Works, the nation's premier dairy digester developer, to embark on a new joint development agreement. This collaboration aims to construct nine state-of-the-art renewable natural gas (RNG) production facilities at dairy farms spanning seven states.

The initiative will encompass dairy farms in Colorado, South Dakota, Georgia, Florida, Iowa, Nebraska, and New Mexico, harnessing the manure from approximately 35,000 cows to mitigate methane emissions and combat climate change.

Expected to be finalized and operational by 2026, these nine projects will collectively produce up to an estimated 4 million gallons of ultra-clean RNG annually. This sustainable transportation fuel, boasting negative carbon intensity, will seamlessly integrate into Clean Energy's extensive RNG distribution network and support its growing customer base across the nation.

With over 60 successful dairy digester projects under its belt, Maas Energy Works specializes in innovative lagoon cover digesters, offering cost-effective solutions compared to traditional tank digesters. Financed by Clean Energy, these nine sites represent a total investment of approximately $130 million.

Clay Corbus, Senior Vice President at Clean Energy, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership, highlighting the alignment of Maas Energy Works' expertise with Clean Energy's RNG distribution network. Daryl Maas, CEO of Maas Energy Works, emphasized the pivotal role of family farms and private enterprises in driving decarbonization efforts, underscoring the potential of renewable fuels to transform the transportation sector.

Given that agriculture and transportation collectively contribute a significant portion of U.S. greenhouse gas emissions, the adoption of RNG derived from farm waste presents a compelling solution to reduce environmental impact. RNG's negative carbon-intensity score, achieved through emissions reduction at the source and during vehicle usage, positions it as a sustainable alternative to conventional diesel fuel.

As both companies forge ahead with this innovative venture, they remain committed to delivering clean energy solutions that align with environmental goals and regulatory requirements.
