Cathedral City, owned by Saputo Dairy, has introduced a new high-protein, half-fat cheddar range in the UK, designed to cater to the increasing demand for nutritious and lower-fat dairy options. The new product line includes block, sliced, grated, and mini formats, offering consumers a variety of choices for different culinary uses.

With 30g of protein per 100g and 50% less fat than traditional cheddar, the range targets health-conscious consumers, particularly millennials and Gen Z, who prioritize nutritious yet enjoyable food options. The launch comes as the global high-protein food market is expected to grow by $40.67 billion from 2022 to 2027, while the UK protein market is projected to exceed £500 million by 2029.

“Our new range delivers the iconic cheddar taste while offering the added benefits of high protein and reduced fat," said Abi Armson, senior brand manager at Cathedral City. This product expansion complements Cathedral City’s broader portfolio, which includes lighter, lactose-free, and plant-based options, further solidifying its presence in the competitive cheese market.
