Carbery Reduces Base Milk Price for the First Time in 2025
In an unprecedented move for 2025, Carbery has announced a reduction in its base milk price by 1c/L for March milk. If extended across the four associated West Cork co-operatives, Bandon, Barryroe, Drinagh, and Lisavaird, this adjustment would result in an average milk price of 52.12c/L, inclusive of VAT, a 0.5c/L somatic cell count bonus, and a FutureProof sustainability bonus. The FutureProof bonus has been increased by 0.25c/L for 2025, reaching a total of 1.25c/L.

Carbery's decision comes after a period of strong milk prices since the start of the year. A spokesperson explained that the price adjustment is to ensure that it is more in line with actual market performance. Meanwhile, other dairy processors have also announced their prices for March milk. Tirlán has set its price at 50.08c/L, down from last month's 56.08c/L, while Dairygold has maintained its price at 50c/L for the month.

Kerry Dairy Ireland has pegged its March milk price at 51.43c/L, compared to February's 52.47c/L. Lakeland Dairies has kept its ROI milk price unchanged at a base of 48.75c/L, with a Northern Ireland base price set at 39.8p/L.

These price changes reflect an ongoing effort by Ireland’s dairy industry to adapt to shifting market conditions, emphasizing sustainability and market alignment.
