Carbery Group has revealed an increase of 3c/L for milk supplied in August, bringing the average milk price to 48.03c/L, inclusive of VAT. This price also includes a 0.5c/L bonus for somatic cell count (SCC) and the FutureProof sustainability bonus, both of which are exclusive of VAT.
If this price adjustment is mirrored across Carbery's four west Cork co-operatives—Bandon, Barryroe, Drinagh, and Lisavaird—farmers will benefit from the improved offering driven by strengthening cheese markets and continued recovery in the broader dairy sector. A spokesperson for Carbery noted that the group remains committed to maximizing returns from dairy markets to support shareholders with favorable milk prices.
This announcement follows a series of price increases across the dairy industry. Kerry Dairy Ireland, for example, announced its August milk price at 45.25c/L, including VAT, for milk with 3.3% protein and 3.6% butterfat. This represents an upward trend from Kerry's July price of 44c/L and June's 42.5c/L. Based on Kerry’s average milk solids for August, the price return, including VAT and bonuses, was 51.81c/L.
Similarly, Lakeland Dairies raised its price for August, offering 46.5c/L at standard constituents (3.6% butterfat and 3.3% protein), inclusive of a 0.5c/L Sustainability Incentive Payment. This reflects a 1.25c/L increase from the previous month’s price. In Northern Ireland, Lakeland is paying a base price of 38.3p/L, including a 0.5p/L Sustainability Incentive Payment, marking a 1p/L increase from the previous month.
