Arla, a major dairy cooperative, is set to increase the prices for conventional and organic milk in January, signaling confidence in a stable outlook for the new year. The UK manufacturing price for conventional milk will be 37.58ppl, while organic milk will be priced at 44.61ppl.
Paul Savage, Arla UK's agriculture director, highlighted the growth in both conventional and organic markets, coupled with improving retail branded sales. He expressed optimism about the stable outlook and how the significant price increase would instill confidence in Arla's farmer owners as they embark on a new year.
Arthur Fearnall, Arla Foods amba board director, welcomed the news as a positive start to the new year for the cooperative's UK and European suppliers. Fearnall emphasized the ongoing recovery in retail sales, especially after the turnaround in quarter three of 2023, and noted the global commodity prices' continuous improvement.
