Arla Introduces Apprenticeship Program Amidst £179 Million Expansion
Arla Foods is launching an apprenticeship program at its Taw Valley site in Devon, UK, coinciding with a major £179 million expansion. This expansion includes the establishment of a new production line dedicated to mozzarella cheese. The apprenticeship program offers three distinct pathways: logistics, liquid processing, and mozzarella production.
The logistics pathway will provide practical experience in cold-store and warehouse operations, including order picking, inventory tasks, and equipment operation. The liquid processing pathway will focus on operating and maintaining processing equipment, ensuring compliance with health and safety standards. Meanwhile, the mozzarella production pathway will involve operating and monitoring mozzarella processing equipment, with a strong emphasis on food quality and safety standards.
Apprentices will earn £21,000 from the start, with salary adjustments in line with the national living wage in the second year. Successful completion of the apprenticeship guarantees a permanent role with Arla. Candidates must be 18 or older, have resided in the UK for at least three years, and be eligible to work in the UK. The site’s rural location necessitates commuting, and shift work, including nights and weekends, may be required.
