Arla Increases Milk Price as Global Dairy Markets Stabilize
Arla Foods has decided to raise its conventional milk price by 1.76 pence per litre, setting it at 35.83 pence per litre for May 2026. This adjustment comes amidst a stabilization in global dairy markets, offering a modest boost to farmers. However, the price for organic milk remains steady at 56.31 pence per litre, reflecting ongoing pressures within that segment.
The increase in conventional milk price occurs as global milk supplies continue to grow, and retail prices begin to stabilize following a period of volatility. European dairy supply remains robust, with Arla indicating a balance in commodity prices, suggesting a more stable pricing environment in the short term.
Despite these adjustments, Arla has cautioned that the market conditions remain influenced by geopolitical factors, particularly related to the Middle East, leaving the overall outlook uncertain. In the UK, the organic dairy sector is experiencing challenges, with supply starting to outpace demand, creating potential imbalances.
Meanwhile, First Milk, another dairy cooperative, has decided to maintain its standard manufacturing milk price at 30.75 pence per litre from May 1, including its member premium. This decision reflects a broader trend of stability in the UK dairy sector for the time being.
