Amul Dairy plans to set up a new dairy processing plant in Assam, investing between Rs 75 crore and Rs 100 crore, with the aim of enhancing dairy production in the region and supporting local farmers.

The Kaira District Milk Producers Union Limited, commonly known as Amul Dairy, is set to expand its operations by establishing a new dairy processing plant in Assam. The investment for this project is estimated to range between Rs 75 crore and Rs 100 crore.
This strategic move is part of the cooperative's effort to boost dairy production in the eastern part of India and extend its national footprint. The Assam government has sanctioned a 20-bigha plot on a lease basis to Amul Dairy at the Institute of Farm Management Campus in Rani near Guwahati.
The initiative received approval from the state cabinet this month under the Advantage Assam 2.0 program, aimed at enhancing the region's dairy sector. Amul Dairy Chairman Vipul Patel confirmed that the plant in Assam will bolster the cooperative's ongoing expansion in India, complementing other projects such as the operational Chittoor Dairy in Andhra Pradesh and the ice cream factory in Pune. The new plant is expected to benefit approximately 20,000 dairy farmers in Assam.
