In 2023, ALPLA, the global packaging and recycling specialist, showcased a robust business performance with a turnover of 4.7 billion euros, marking a moderate decline of around eight percent compared to the previous year's 5.1 billion euros.

This drop is attributed to lower material and energy costs, as well as the impact of exchange rate factors. Despite this, the company emphasized that value-added remained stable.
ALPLA's strategic investments in new production plants, recycling facilities, technologies, and acquisitions globally positioned the company for further development and future growth. While experiencing strong growth in Africa and Asia, demand stagnated in North and Central America and China. The company also expanded its presence in Europe, particularly in the pharma, recycling, and industrial sectors.
CEO Philipp Lehner highlighted 2023 as a year of mixed demand and industry-wide fluctuations following a year of high costs in the previous year. Despite these challenges, ALPLA managed to generate stable value-added, invest extensively, develop innovative products, and build capacities, laying the foundations for long-term growth.
ALPLA's workforce in 2023 comprised 23,300 employees, and the number of sites increased from 190 to 196 due to new constructions, expansions, and acquisitions.
