Aldi Commits Over £30 Million to Support Sustainable Dairy Farming in Partnership with Arla
The partnership focuses on Arla’s new ‘FarmAhead Customer Partnership’ initiative, which aims to assist dairy farmers in reducing on-farm emissions. Aldi’s investment will enable collaborative farming projects and support innovation aimed at advancing sustainable practices and decarbonising dairy production.
Additionally, Aldi has expanded its commitment to the Aldi Dairy Farm Partnership (ADFP) programme, now covering 100% of Arla’s Fresh Milk supply, thereby increasing support for British farms from 25 to over 150. This programme not only benefits dairy producers but also aligns with Aldi’s broader sustainability goals.
Liz Fox, Aldi UK’s National Sustainability Director, emphasized the importance of responsible sourcing: “Our strengthened partnership with Arla allows us to better support farmers while driving positive change in the UK’s dairy sector. This investment reflects our dedication to delivering high-quality dairy products to our customers.”
Arla farmer Tim Dale, a member of the ADFP since 2018, expressed pride in the continued collaboration with Aldi. “This investment marks another milestone in our shared goal of supporting dairy farmers to produce quality milk in the best possible way. We look forward to working closely on initiatives that create a better future for dairy farming,” he stated.
This investment follows several others from Aldi, including a £800 million expansion plan announced last month to open new stores and lower prices. Aldi also plans to invest £3 billion over the next five years to support its British beef suppliers, further reinforcing its commitment to the UK agriculture sector.
