Recently, two off-site community solar installations were completed, developed by Norwich Solar and financially backed by Solaris Energy and Greenday Finance. These projects, each with a capacity of 500 kWAC (864 kWDC), are strategically positioned on less fertile lands in Newbury and Jamaica. Collectively, they are set to deliver over 2,100 kWh of renewable energy every year to six local dairy farms.
Located on a repurposed gravel pit and a previously logged hillside, these solar arrays not only aim to cut fixed energy costs but also to enhance profitability for the farms, contributing to the economic sustainability of the region.
The community has shown significant interest and support for these initiatives. The Jamaica site, in particular, has attracted attention fr om nearby residents, reflecting the community's involvement and approval of sustainable development projects.
