As global trade opportunities have expanded post-pandemic, these brands are actively seeking to penetrate new markets. Despite their efforts, they face challenges related to maintaining consistent production quality and adapting to different international distribution networks.

Key industry figures from both the dairy and baijiu sectors are advocating for more supportive policies. At the high-level political Two Sessions meeting, Shi Yudong, the R&D Director at Mengniu Global R&D Innovation Centre and a member of the National People’s Congress (NPC), emphasized the urgent need for specialized incentives that would drive growth both domestically and internationally. He highlighted the importance of policies that facilitate innovation and product development, guiding the industry towards stronger research capabilities.

Yili Global Innovation Centre’s Director of Scientific Research, Wang Caiyun, another NPC member, pointed out the critical need for embracing key technologies within the dairy industry. She stressed that leveraging these technologies is essential for enhancing independent innovation and advancing towards a modern industrial system.

Similarly, the baijiu sector's spokesperson, Zhang Liandong, Chairman of Yanghe Distillery and NPC member, called for improved productivity and industrial modernization. He discussed the importance of developing strong production chains and integrating sustainable practices to transform the industry comprehensively.

The session also touched upon the strategic positioning of baijiu as a potential world heritage product, recognizing the cultural significance and unique brewing techniques of baijiu. Zeng Na, brand owner at Luzhou Laojiao and NPC member, advocated for international initiatives to promote baijiu, not just for its trade potential but also to highlight its cultural heritage globally.

These leaders are united in their belief that supportive policies are crucial for the growth and global expansion of China's influential food and beverage sectors, urging policymakers to act decisively to foster both technological advancements and international market penetration.
