Ruiloba Sets New European Record with a 150-Kilo Cheese

Ruiloba Sets European Cheese Record
The town of Ruiloba in Cantabria has achieved a remarkable feat by setting a new European record at the Feria de la Leche. The event took place this past Sunday, where a massive 150-kilogram fresh cheese was crafted. This record-breaking cheese was made using 500 liters of milk from the Cudaña cattle.
Surpassing Previous Records
Last year, Ruiloba had set the Spanish record with a 120-kilo cheese using over 400 liters of milk. However, this year's achievement takes the record to new heights in Europe.
The cheese was crafted in front of the event's attendees, who later had the opportunity to taste it.
A Community Effort
The Feria de la Leche, organized by the Ruiloba City Council and the farms of Cudaña, with support from the Cantabria Livestock Council, celebrated its eighth edition in the Trasierra neighborhood. The event coincided with the festival of Santa Eulalia.
Among the attendees was the Cantabria Livestock Counselor María Jesús Susinos, who congratulated Cudaña on this "historic milestone." She stated that the fair has become a key event in promoting Cantabrian raw milk cheese, recognized for its quality.
A Record-Breaking Display
Also present at the fair was José María de la Serna, who holds the Guinness record for being the fastest cow milker in the world, capable of outperforming milking machines.
