Speaking at the event's opening, the Deputy Akim (regional governor) of Mangystau emphasized that this forum is significant not only for the region but for all of Kazakhstan.

“It is worth noting that the natural conditions in the Mangystau region are not favorable for traditional dairy production. However, we have a unique advantage—we rank first in the country for the number of camels. With 104,000 camels in the region, we now have major projects and promising opportunities for developing camel milk and camel-based products. I believe that at this forum, our entrepreneurs and investors interested in advancing dairy production will have the chance to learn fr om international experiences, hear suggestions and advice from leading experts and researchers, and incorporate them into their own projects,” he noted.

The forum will place special emphasis on dairy processing issues. According to Alexandra Grigorova, President of the Cheese Makers Guild of Kazakhstan, the primary focus will be on advanced dairy processing, which is particularly relevant for Central Asia. Additionally, the event will feature the Cheese Open 2024 competition, wh ere products from Kazakhstan, Russia, France, and other countries will compete for the chance to represent their producers at the World Championship in France in 2025.

Cheese Open 2024 offers a unique opportunity for producers from around the world to showcase their craftsmanship and product quality. The jury, led by Roland Barthélemy, President of the International Cheese Makers Guild, will select winners in various categories and award the Grand Prix, including the title of “Best Cheese of Kazakhstan 2024.”
