Fonterra Announces Re-Election of Directors and Co-operative Council Members
This year's elections also saw contests for two Fonterra Co-operative Council wards – southern Northland and Piako. Cushla Smit emerged victorious in southern Northland, while Aleisha Broomfield secured the position of Piako councillor.
Additional election outcomes include the unopposed election of shareholders Simon Couper and Shirley Trumper to the directors' remuneration committee. Notably, Couper, a former council chairman, returns to a governance role after resigning in 2012 due to his opposition to Trading Among Farmers (TAF).
In five council wards, councillors were elected unopposed, reflecting a smooth process in these regions. The successful candidates in these uncontested elections are Grant Coombes (Waikato West), Andrew Myers (Waipa), Kylie Leonard (Central Plateau), council chairman John Stevenson (Wairarapa), and Don Moore (Eastern Southland).
Fonterra's recent election results not only reaffirm the continuity of experienced leadership but also introduce new voices to the Co-operative Council, reflecting the cooperative's commitment to a diverse and effective governance structure.
