Fair Milk Pricing for Farmers Act Introduced in Congress

In a bid to support American dairy farmers, Senators Kirsten Gillibrand (D-New York) and Susan Collins (R-Maine) have introduced the Fair Milk Pricing for Farmers Act in Congress. This legislative effort seeks to align milk prices more closely with the actual costs of dairy production, a move that could significantly boost the agricultural sector.
The proposed bill mandates manufacturers to disclose dairy processing costs biennially, offering more transparency and potentially enhancing the pricing structure for milk. "New York dairy farmers deserve to be paid a fair price for their milk, and they need a milk pricing system that they can count on," stated Senator Gillibrand, highlighting the importance and urgency of this legislative action.
In addition to its introduction in the Senate, companion legislation has been concurrently presented in the House of Representatives, showcasing a concerted effort across both chambers to address this issue.
