Enhancing Milk Production in North Korea

In an effort to reinforce the childcare policy of the Workers' Party of Korea, the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) has intensified its initiatives to boost both milk production and processing capacity. As of April 16, this heightened focus has already begun yielding "clear fruition."
Pyongyang Municipality is leading this charge with the construction of new animal sheds for goats and dairy cattle in Kangdong County. By ensuring a growing supply of livestock to these new facilities, the municipality is actively promoting enhanced milk production.
Efforts are equally vigorous in South Hamgyong Province, where large-scale cultivation of feed grass supports increased breeding activities. This is expected to augment the production capabilities significantly by addressing the nutritional needs of dairy cattle and goats.
Meanwhile, North Hamgyong Province is implementing scientific breeding systems in various cities and counties to increase livestock numbers efficiently. Additionally, the province has prepared an array of veterinary medicines aimed at minimising livestock mortality rates, further stabilising production outputs.
South and North Hwanghae provinces, along with Rason Municipality, are focusing on the technical advancement of milk powder production, through both manufacturing and modernising spray-drying equipment.
In other regions, initiatives include the completion of veterinary medicine production processes and the installation of vacuum concentrators. These efforts aim to establish a robust foundation for intensified dairy product production, supporting the broader scheme set by the nation's policies.
