According to the country's customs statistics, in January 2024, China imported a total of 239,800 tons of various dairy products, which is 8.6% less than the previous year; the import value was $888 million USD, down by 25.2% annually.

The import volume of dry dairy products was 180,400 tons - a decrease of 7.9% annually, with an import value of $763 million USD - a decrease of 27.9% annually.
The import of liquid milk amounted to 59,400 tons, which is 10.7% less than the previous year in physical weight and 2.6% less in value compared to the previous year. Deliveries of packaged milk decreased in January by 25.6% in physical weight and by 4.8% in value.
As noted in the materials of the Customs Service of China, in January 2024, China exported a total of about 5609.72 tons of various dairy products, which is 35.4% more than the previous year, and the export value was $23 million USD, which is 38.3% more than the previous year.
In January 2024, China exported a total of approximately 2363.17 tons of dry dairy products, which is 25.2% more than the previous year. The three main categories of products include dry products in large packaging (56.3%), infant formulas (23.5%), and cream (7.6%). The main export destinations are: Hong Kong, China (share 41.8%), Nigeria (share 24.4%), Mongolia (share 12.9%), North Korea (share 5.4%), etc.
