The decision, if replicated by the four west County Cork co-operatives—Bandon, Barryroe, Drinagh, and Lisavaird—will elevate the average milk price to 42.72c/L, inclusive of VAT.

This price also includes a 0.5c/L somatic cell count (SCC) bonus and the processor’s FutureProof sustainability bonus, Carbery stated.

The group noted that its stability fund payment and other milk support payments have now concluded. "We have gone deep into our business to support milk price over the past months as dairy market performance struggled and weather impacted milk volumes," a spokesperson for Carbery said. "As we start to see a recovery, albeit slow, in markets, we have paused these measures. Our SCC and sustainability bonuses continue," the spokesperson added.

In addition to the pricing update, Carbery confirmed the appointment of Vincent O’Donovan as the new board chairperson, commencing a two-year term. O’Donovan, who has been the chairperson of Bandon Co-op since 2022 and a board member for nine years, succeeds Cormac O’Keefe. O’Keefe steps down from his roles at both the Carbery and Lisavaird Co-op boards. O’Donovan has also served as vice-chairperson of Carbery for the past two years and chaired its audit committee, positioning him as a seasoned leader within the group.
