Following the conclusion of the Lok Sabha elections, the Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation (GCMMF), known for its 'Amul' brand, has announced a Rs 2 per litre increase in milk prices effective from June 3.
This adjustment represents a 3-4% rise in the maximum retail price (MRP), a figure that GCMMF notes is below the average food inflation rate.
This price revision, the first since February 2023, is attributed to rising operational and production costs. Additionally, GCMMF highlighted that its member unions have boosted compensation for farmers by about 6-8% over the past year.
Amul, which consistently passes approximately 80% of the revenue from milk and milk products back to the producers, emphasizes that this price change is aimed at maintaining fair earnings for farmers and fostering increased milk production.
