Irish farmers are holding mass demonstrations throughout the republic in solidarity with farmers from other EU countries protesting against Brussels' policies in this area. This is stated in a statement by the Irish Farmers' Association (IFA).

Irish farmers are “just as disappointed with what is happening as farmers in other countries,” the Irish Broadcasting Company (RTE) quoted association president Francie Gorman as saying.

They are unhappy that "their work is regulated by Brussels bureaucrats and Treasury officials who are far removed from the reality of everyday agriculture," Francey Gorman added.

Mass protests by farmers are taking place in France due to the dissatisfaction of industry representatives with the fall in income due to inflation and the increase in imports of agricultural products from Ukraine. Farmers also advocate simplification of bureaucratic procedures related to EU requirements. As a sign of protest, farmers use tractors to block roads and hold demonstrations in front of government buildings.

Protests also spread to Germany, Belgium, Spain and Italy.
