In 2024, the national dairy sector experienced a relative recovery with an increase in raw milk production, breaking three consecutive years of decline. According to data provided by Fedeleche and Odepa, there was a 3.3% positive variation in raw milk production, totaling 2,232.4 million liters.
Region-wise, the production trends varied significantly. Los Lagos saw a 2.7% decrease, recording a drop of 28.5 million liters, while Los Ríos experienced a 14.6% increase in production, contributing 36.8% to the national output. La Araucanía witnessed a 5.3% rise, whereas Bio-Bio and Ñuble faced declines of 6.9% and 19.5% respectively.
The central zone, including Valparaíso, showed a mixed performance, but overall, the area’s contribution to national production rose from 7.2% to 7.3%. In December 2024, milk production showed a 3.2% increase compared to the previous December, highlighting the ongoing recovery in several regions such as Los Lagos, Los Ríos, and La Araucanía.
