Valley Milk Acquires Assets to Revive Rizo-Lopez Dairy Brand

Francisco Foods, LLC, a newly formed company, has acquired substantially all assets of the California-based Rizo-Lopez Foods, Inc. The acquisition was approved by the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Eastern District of California. This move was spearheaded by Valley Milk, LLC, a producer of dairy ingredients supported by Central Valley farming families, nutritionists, and veterinarians.

The newly established business is a joint venture where Valley Milk holds a majority stake, while the founding Rizo family maintains involvement through Rilosa, LLC with a minority ownership. Rizo-Lopez Foods will cease to operate as an independent entity, but its workforce and customer relationships will continue under the new organizational structure.

CEO of Valley Milk, Damien Caton, emphasized the partnership as an extension of their commitment to the local community and the dairy industry. Mike de Jager, Chairman of the Valley Milk Board, highlighted the venture as an exciting new chapter that promises a positive regional impact.

The Tío Francisco brand, known for its Hispanic-style cheeses and cream products, will continue production under the new ownership. This brand has been in the market for over 35 years and is distributed across the United States.

This acquisition marks a new phase for the brand, ensuring its continuity and potential growth following the financial restructuring.
