In Armenia, milk production fell to 575 thousand tons in 2024

In 2024, the wheat harvest decreased from 177.9 thousand tons in 2023 to 120.7 thousand tons, and the sown area decreased from about 71 thousand hectares to 57 thousand hectares. These figures returned to the level of 2021-2022, when the sown area was about 57 thousand hectares, and the harvest was just under 140 thousand tons, which allows the Republic to provide itself with wheat for only about a third of its needs.
A reduction is also observed in the livestock sector. The cattle population continues to decline: in 2022 it was about 560 thousand heads, in 2023 - about 502 thousand, and in 2024 - slightly less than 492 thousand.
At the same time, there is an increase in the number of poultry, mainly chickens: from 4 million 186 thousand heads in 2023 to 4 million 426 thousand heads in 2024.
It should be noted that statistics on the agricultural sector in Armenia may not always be reliable - farmers sometimes understate volumes to maintain social benefits, and local authorities, on the contrary, may overstate data for reporting.
