Tirol launches sugar-free, lactose-free dulce de leche

Tirol has launched a 250g version of dulce de leche that contains no added sugar and no lactose. The Brazilian dairy company presents it as an alternative for people who avoid those ingredients, whether because they cannot consume them or choose not to.

The product is intended to reproduce two characteristics associated with conventional dulce de leche: a creamy consistency and a distinctive taste. Tirol’s stated challenge was to preserve those features while adapting the formulation to current dietary requirements.

Rodnei Guariza, the company’s marketing manager, said the launch was intended to maintain the qualities consumers value most in the category. “The Sugar-Free and Lactose-Free Dulce de Leche combines these two proposals in a product that has Tirol’s quality and tradition,” he said.

The release comes as products described as sugar-free and lactose-free are being considered by a broader group of shoppers, according to the report. Such attributes were previously associated mainly with consumers who had specific dietary restrictions, but are now also presented as part of everyday purchasing decisions.

Tirol said the formulation seeks to combine the enjoyment associated with a traditional dairy sweet and the requirements of consumers looking for more suitable options. The company’s description places taste, quality and creaminess alongside the absence of added sugar and lactose.

The launch is part of a wider adjustment by established dairy brands to products that have traditionally been identified with their categories. Tirol’s dulce de leche is one example of a familiar product being offered in a version aligned with changing consumer preferences.
