Tirlán Unveils Inaugural Dairy and Sustainability Awards for 2025
Tirlán has announced the launch of its first-ever awards program, the Dairy and Sustainability Awards 2025, aimed at recognizing co-op members committed to delivering high-quality milk sustainably. The program is set to celebrate dairy farmers' achievements in areas such as milk quality, animal welfare, farm management, and sustainability practices.
Nominations for the awards are currently open online on the Tirlán Farmlife website and will close on February 14. Eligible suppliers will be chosen based on their milk quality test results, technical reports, and sustainability data. A judging panel will evaluate all shortlisted applications.
The awards feature various categories, including:
- Overall: Tirlán Milk Supplier of the Year.
- Sustainability: Tirlán Sustainability Champion; Tirlán Farming for Water Champion.
- Milk Quality: Avonmore Fresh Milk Supplier; Milk Solids Champion; Milk Quality Award (over and under 600,000L).
- Regional Awards: North, South, East, and West Region Awards.
- Special Categories: Young Farmer Award (Under 35); New Entrant Award; Farming Ambassador; Cathal Moran Innovation Award.
Two additional special recognition awards will acknowledge the exceptional contributions of Tirlán milk drivers and farm employees. Winners across all categories will be honored during a ceremony scheduled for April 29, 2025.
John Murphy, chairperson of Tirlán, emphasized the significance of recognizing the efforts of their farmers. 'They have been exceptional adopters of new technologies, focusing on reducing on-farm emissions and allowing space for nature,' he noted.
Murphy also highlighted the Cathal Moran Innovation Award, named in memory of a well-regarded adopter of new technologies, to encourage innovative practices aiming for sustainable improvements in farming. 'We would like to award those who strive to innovate with a vision of improving their farm sustainably for the future,' he added.
