The Worst Powdered Milk Brands According to Profeco: Consumer Warning
The Mexican Federal Consumer Protection Agency, Profeco, has identified several powdered milk brands falling short in quality standards. Brands such as Nestlé Nutri Rindes, Frania, Golden Hills, and Aurrera were found to have issues with protein content and labeling. Specifically, products like Nestlé Nutri Rindes and Carnation Clavel, which are marketed as lactose-free, contain less than the required 15% protein.

Other problem brands, including Golden Hills and Aurrera, fail to meet minimum protein or casein levels and often lack essential nutritional information on their labels. The evaluation covered 23 powdered products, including various milk and dairy substitutes, assessing factors such as protein content, moisture levels, and adherence to national standards (NOM‑183‑SCFI‑2012). Profeco advises consumers to carefully review product labels and ensure package integrity to avoid nutritional deficiencies.

This initiative aims to empower consumers by providing transparency and helping them make informed decisions, thereby pushing for improved quality in the dairy industry.
