Sader urges Mexican farmers to boost production for domestic and foreign markets

The Secretary of Agriculture, Julio Berdegué, has urged Mexican livestock farmers to ramp up national production, particularly of protein-rich foods such as meat, milk, and cheese. This appeal aims to mitigate the impact of U.S. tariffs on Mexican goods. During a meeting with the National Confederation of Livestock Organizations (CNOG), Berdegué emphasized the need to increase domestic production for local consumption and potential exports to North America and other global markets.

He highlighted the importance of maintaining and boosting production under the government’s 'Pacto por México' program, which seeks to replace imports with locally produced foods. Berdegué committed to developing short, medium, and long-term policies to enhance the productivity of Mexico's livestock sector.
