Butter Production in Russia Increases Despite Consumption Decline
Meanwhile, the consumption trend was opposite. From January to November 2025, domestic demand for butter decreased by 6.7%, amounting to 383.5 thousand tons. Against the backdrop of declining consumption, warehouse stocks of the product noticeably grew. As of early January 2026, butter stocks at dairy processing enterprises increased by 83%, reaching 30.5 thousand tons.
Analysts note that similar trends are observed in the alternative fats market. The production of margarines and spreads from January to December 2025 decreased by 2.3% to 596.6 thousand tons.
The consumption of this product category also decreased, although less significantly. From January to November 2025, it fell by 0.9%, totaling 394 thousand tons. Meanwhile, warehouse stocks of margarines and spreads, on the contrary, sharply decreased by 70%, to 3.4 thousand tons by early 2026.
