Potential Buyers Emerge for SanCor's Assets Amidst Bankruptcy Proceedings
SanCor, the historic Argentine dairy cooperative, has entered a critical stage in its bankruptcy proceedings. The process, now focused on selling off its assets, began with an official meeting at the Casa Central in Sunchales. This meeting provided potential buyers with key information about the current state of the company and outlined the framework for the sale process.
The meeting was overseen by Judge Marcelo Gelcich, along with the bankruptcy trusteeship and co-administrator Lucila Prono. Notably, the gathering included representatives from significant companies such as Savencia, Adecoagro, Punta del Agua S.A., Elcor S.A., and La Tarantela. These companies are reportedly evaluating possible proposals, with the bid specifications expected to be ready shortly, officially commencing the competition for SanCor's production units and other assets.
In addition to these developments, businessman Gustavo Scaglione, though absent from the meeting, has indicated his intention to submit a comprehensive proposal, potentially backed by foreign partners. This highlights a shift in focus from merely ensuring SanCor's survival to determining which entities will acquire parts or potentially the entirety of the brand, which is considered an emblematic name in Argentina's dairy industry.
As the situation progresses, the involvement of such notable firms suggests a competitive landscape for SanCor's assets, reflecting the cooperative's enduring significance despite its financial troubles.
