Ornua, the parent company of the renowned Kerrygold brand, has emphasized the importance of increasing female representation at the highest echelons of the organization.
In its recent annual report, the Dublin-based cooperative underscored its commitment to implementing "active measures and targets" aimed at bolstering the number of women in senior leadership positions. The report highlighted the persistent gender imbalance, particularly at the executive and senior leadership levels, and acknowledged the need for concerted efforts to address this disparity.
Ornua has set ambitious targets to achieve a significant increase in female representation, aiming for 45% representation of women in its succession pool for senior and executive roles by 2027. To support this goal, the company has implemented initiatives such as the Women in Leadership at Ornua program, which has seen 203 female leaders participate since 2019.
Moreover, Ornua has prioritized promoting a healthy work-life balance among its workforce, recognizing the importance of supporting employees through various life stages. The company has introduced new policies, including domestic violence and abuse leave in Ireland, alongside global initiatives such as part-time working policies, enhanced maternity and second parent leave, and phased return-to-work programs following maternity leave.
The commitment to employee well-being extends beyond policy enhancements, with Ornua implementing supporting initiatives on reward, benefits, ways of working, and overall well-being to enhance the employee experience.
Despite the challenges posed by gender disparity and the ongoing pandemic, Ornua reported positive financial results for the fiscal year ending December 2023. With a global workforce of 3,000 employees, the company remains steadfast in its commitment to fostering gender diversity and supporting employee welfare while achieving significant financial milestones.
