New Zealand Dairy Farmers Support Continuation of Milksolids Levy

Dairy farmers in New Zealand have shown their support for the continuation of the Milksolids Levy. This levy is crucial for funding DairyNZ, an organization that supports dairy farmers across the country. In a recent vote, 66% of participating farmers endorsed the levy, accounting for 72% of the Milksolids produced by all voters.

DairyNZ chair Tracy Brown expressed gratitude towards the farmers for their participation and support. She stated that the vote provides a clear mandate for DairyNZ to continue its work, which includes advancing genetic gain and improving water quality.

The organization plans to focus on harnessing data and insights to strengthen farm systems and enhance sustainability. Brown emphasized the importance of delivering tools and resources that drive productivity and support farmers in competing on sustainability grounds.

With the levy vote confirmed, DairyNZ will now submit a formal application to gain ministerial approval. The process is expected to be completed before the General Election on November 7 this year.
