The China National Market Supervision Administration has recently released a pivotal draft notice regarding the management of raw materials for infant formula milk powder, signaling significant changes in the industry.

Enhanced Raw Material Management: Manufacturers are required to improve their procurement and acceptance systems. For those utilizing dry processing, raw materials must comply not only with food safety standards but also with microbiological criteria specific to infant formula products.
Shift to Qualified Base Powder: Manufacturers producing infant formula from base powder must transition to using base powder sourced from qualified manufacturers within two years of the draft’s release.
Labeling Standards: The draft allows for labeling products intended for children over one year old with "processed from cow milk" or "processed from goat milk," encouraging transparency and trust among consumers.
