Nestlé and Nigerian Government Launch Dairy Skills Program to Boost Milk Producers' Income
Nestlé has announced its collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Livestock Development to launch a Dairy Technical Skills Development Program, formalized by a Letter of Intent signed during World Milk Day celebrations.

This initiative aims to improve the quality and volume of milk production in Nigeria, focusing on mid-level technical and vocational skills important for the dairy value chain. By establishing capacity-building programs in milk production and management, the partnership aims to support local dairy clusters with knowledge sharing and technical support. Wassim Elhusseini, Managing Director and CEO of Nestlé Nigeria PLC, highlighted the mutual dedication to enhancing technical skills in the dairy sector, which will create jobs and improve livelihoods.

The Minister of Livestock Development, Alhaji Idi Mukhtar Maiha, emphasized the importance of this collaboration to the National Livestock Growth Acceleration Strategy. Since the launch of the Dairy Development Project in 2019, Nestlé has significantly contributed to the sector through the establishment of dairy cooperatives and training programs. The results include improved milk quality and a substantial increase in monthly revenue for milk producers, from N70,000 in 2019 to N250,000 in 2024.
